Why do you work at Sava Re?
At Sava Re, I have a broad perspective on information technology as well as the possibility to build my knowledge, meet new people and seize opportunities. I have a good work-life balance and can work from different locations. My colleagues are always willing to share their knowledge and drive, and we also have mentoring and training programmes in place when we are faced with new challenges. The company also organises leisure activities such as tennis and volleyball, and offers benefits for certain insurance products.
Describe your career briefly
My Sava Re story began when I joined the IT development team as a student of a faculty of computer and information science. What impressed me the most as a student was how friendly everyone was and how happy they were to work with me, and what’s more, the challenges were intriguing and designed so that I could tackle them independently. They also offered me a co-mentor for my graduation thesis, which I was happy to accept. I was offered an internship before I graduated, and when I had my diploma I got a full-time job as a business analyst. My good work performance earned me a promotion to the position of IT specialist.
What is your job at Sava Re?
At the moment, my key responsibilities include assistance in the implementation and planning of ERP solutions, upgrading of ITSM processes, programming of interfaces between systems, preparation of SQL queries and planning of IT solutions with business partners. To be more concrete, I take part in projects where I work with a team of the best IT experts from Zavarovalnica Sava and CRMT data preparation specialists, an international team of engineers and hardware specialists... If I need more expertise, I have the possibility to participate in additional training courses and I can meet my colleagues in person (Ljubljana, Warsaw, Milan, Belgrade, Maribor...).
What do you enjoy most about your work?
As a rule, the challenges are never the same, as we are constantly upgrading and optimising processes. Through these optimisations, I meet many IT teams and experts in different fields, which allows me to gain specific knowledge while dealing with challenges. It’s a good feeling to see processes running at a higher level than before.
How would you describe your team/colleagues?
I would say that my team are active and never afraid to take the initiative. Half of us are young and half are more experienced colleagues. We are currently working, on a daily basis with an external associate and mentor who has extensive experience in information science. We distribute work among us, and there is always someone to stand in for you, if necessary. The broader team consists of many external IT business partners, colleagues at the IT centre and internal business application users.
What would be your advice to someone who wants to pursue a career in this area?
I would recommend working in the Sava Insurance Group to my fellow engineers, because it provides a different perspective on the development of software solutions. The complex environment offers scenarios and work dynamics that you can’t usually get in specialised processes. Information and knowledge is always there – it’s up to you how you use it.
