Why do you work at Sava Re?
When I saw the advertisement for the position, I immediately recognised myself in the job description. The position is new and is a result of new developments in finance and data processing. As such, it brings many development responsibilities and means blazing a trail in my field, which I particularly enjoy. It allows me to fully utilise my knowledge and skills. I think I am in a great position that provides ample opportunity for career growth.
Describe your career briefly
During my master's studies at the faculty of economics, I worked at a bank. After graduating, I found a job in risk management at an insurance company. At that time, I also obtained the FRM certificate. Due to certain circumstances, responsibilities and the nature of work in the insurance company, I decided to try working somewhere new. I got a job in the energy sector, in portfolio analytics. It was interesting work, and I could concentrate more on numbers and trading strategies and look for the factors that have an impact on the company portfolio. I learned how efficient you can be if you use a programming language at work, which prompted me to start learning it and use it at work. This has also come in handy in my current job at Sava Re.
What is your job at Sava Re?
I work as a financial performance monitoring specialist. It is work that entails many aspects, from report writing, ad hoc analyses and investment planning to data processing. Most of the time, I work on process and report automation (data preparation and similar), and process data in our databases
What do you enjoy most about your work?
Being able to utilise my knowledge and skills at work. I like the fact that I mostly work on development projects that provide added value to the business centre, and that I grow and learn in the process. Owing to my superiors, I also have some independence.
How would you describe your team/colleagues?
Everyone in finance is very friendly and communicative (including the directors and managers). If I am looking for a solution to a problem, they are always there to help. I like that we sing “Happy Birthday” to each other and that we always look for an opportunity to socialise together. I think we are becoming a really close-knit team, which motivates me even more to do my job well, because I know there is always someone who has my back, and I don’t want to disappoint my teammates.
6. What would be your advice to someone who wants to pursue a career in this area?
To take the initiative and be prepared to learn intensively – with the support of your colleagues, of course. Finance is a broad and constantly changing field of expertise. When you join the team, you should identify your strengths and the added value that you bring to the department
